About 60 miles northwest of Westboro is the Flambeau River. It offers stretches of calm water as well as challenging rapids. Excellent primitive campsites are located along the river.

Canoeing or kayaking this river is an exciting adventure for experienced groups. The river flows north to Lake Superior through stretches of calm water and rapids. It is located about 140 miles northwest of Westboro.
